When my two daughters were little girls, we often played a game called “Would You Rather.”
The objective was to pose a question with an impossible answer. We’d ask ridiculous things, like “Would you rather get poked in the eye or stung by a bee?” “Would you rather eat a bowl of live worms or a starfish?” The more outlandish, the more squeals of laughter we would share. It was a fun and funny game.
Speaking of choices, I’ve been thinking a lot about them lately. I witness women making choices about their lives every day. Some are willing to step up with courage and transform their lives. Others are scared, overwhelmed, or simply don’t know where to start. (Been there, done that).
For those who fall into the latter camp, ask yourself these questions. Would you rather…
- …place your life “on hold” (indefinitely) or learn how to manage fear and gain clarity?
- …let your relationship with food control you or you control your relationship with food?
- …that your life stay the exactly the same or that you step into the woman you’ve always dreamed of?
The answers to these questions seem obvious. But no matter how obvious they seem, making the decisions can feel hard.
If you’re desperate for change but aren’t sure what to do, here are my secrets. I read inspiring books, listen to kick-ass podcasts, practice making small choices (that build my “trust muscle” for making big decisions), self-coach my own mindset, and work with a coach (actually, I work with more than one).
If you’re uncertain where to start, just pick one thing. Take action. Make one decision and go for it.
Your “future self” will thank you.
You’ve got this.
You can do it!
